Recently, I asked someone for advice about progression, development and life as a woman in the workplace. One of the many useful tips she gave me included the importance of networking and supporting other women – not seeing women as a threat, but lifting each other up.
I was immediately struck with an idea to really make the most of this advice. I wanted to find a network of women like me: young professionals keen to grow not only in their career, but as a person. Women who aren’t necessarily new to professional working life, but would maybe still consider themselves as early on in their career, still paving the way. I googled away to find such a group and, while there are plenty of female networking groups around, I couldn’t quite find what I had in mind. The only solution I could come up with was to create my own.
And BIZZY was born…
And so, I’m excited to introduce my very own shiny networking group, designed for women based in Oxfordshire and aged between 20 and 35, who want to talk about their careers and development in a friendly and non-competitive way. It’s not about growing business, but supporting each other as we face new challenges, build personal brands and gain insight we might not have had otherwise. It doesn’t matter what your profession is… what matters is that you’ve got ambition and you want to empower yourself and others like you.
Hopefully, I’m not alone in this desire. The plan now is to build a network of likeminded individuals and start hosting bi-monthly sessions: workshops on specific areas we’d like to discuss, book club style meetings (there are loads of great books out there!), brainstorming and also just some good old socialising and making friends.
Join BIZZY now!
If this sounds like something you’re interested in – great.
