Aaaand calm | Superdrug Facemask Review – Blogtober Day Twenty

Apologies for the late post today guys, my evening got shifted around a bit! Nevertheless, I am here and I am going to share a review of a face mask I tried out yesterday. I’m not sure how long I’ve had it to be honest, but as I slowly unpack boxes from the move (over two months ago! I’m so shameful!), I came across a whole bunch of them. I’ll try to get round to reviewing them all as they’re very different!

So as the title says, I started with a Superdrug ‘Cucumber Cooling Clay Mask’. As I told you all yesterday, I ended up taking the day off because I felt so unwell, so I took the idea of something cooling as a great way to try and relieve my headache. Spoiler: It worked. Here’s what I thought…

The Packaging:

That woman on the packet managed to put her face mask on waaaay better than I could manage! I liked the colour and as I said, ‘cooling’ really did catch my attention when it came to choosing. I have to say, I think I’d prefer a face mask that was in a bottle than one of these packets, but it wasn’t too bad! 8/10.

The Application:

The main reason I’d prefer a face mask that didn’t come in a packet like this is because it is so difficult to apply the mask without making an absolute mess! I managed to get green clay mask on my bathroom sink, all over my hands, my hand towel and my hair…just a bit of a mess. The mask itself was really smooth and easy to cover my face with a thick layer, which was good! I looked nowhere near as good as the model on the packaging though! 7/10.

The Experience:

From the second I applied the mask, I immediately felt it’s cooling, soothing effect. It was bliss as my head was really hurting. The packet recommends keeping the mask on for about 10-15 minutes, so I set a timer and then started on cooking dinner. I ended up having it on for about 25 minutes, so it ended up drying on quite hard in most places and made my skin feel quite tight, but I didn’t mind that – felt like it was doing something! I did have a thick splodge on my nose that I accidentally got on myself while I was cooking! Overall, I was really impressed with how well it cooled, and remained cooling throughout the time that I had it on. 8/10.

The Removal:

Here comes the messy part take 2! I ran myself a sink and grabbed a flannel to take off my mask. As I knew it was quite dried up, I was expecting it to be difficult, but the process was pretty easy. Warm water and several soaks and my face was shiny and clean! It came out of my hair really easily too, so big points for Superdrug! 8/10.

The After-Effects:

So I woke up this morning with a blemish on my cheek, which I guess means that the face mask did it’s job of cleansing and bringing up all those yucky blocked pores. My face definitely feels a bit softer and someone said I was ‘glowing’ today – so maybe that’s thanks to the face mask! (I hope it’s not because I’m pregnant ๐Ÿ˜…). 8/10.

Overall Score: 39/50

Would I recommend/buy again? Yes, I thought overall the product was worth it. Superdrug also have a 3 for 2 offer on the face masks, so totally well priced to stock up.
